In March and April of 1825 General Lafayette, "the Nation's Guest" journeyed through the Creek Nation as he traveled from Georgia to Alabama. In 1825 the Creek Nation was still an independent nation. How would the Creek leaders respond to a former enemy? Would he be welcomed or would be shunned? Surprisingly the entire Creek Nation enthusiastically welcomed and honored the man they referred to as, "The Favorite Father" and "The French Captain." They respected him because he clearly believed in equal rights for all. The presentation will include authentic images captured by Lukas Vischer of Switzerland and Captain Basil Hall of Scotland.
